| | The Lobster Cove Head trail in Gros
Morne National Park is a moderate to easy trail following a 1 km loop. The
Parks Canada website describes it as: "A sign by the parking lot
illustrates the paths down to the shoreline and along coastal cliffs. The
rocky beach with its tidal pools is excellent for exploring at low tide. The
lightkeeper's house is open to visitors from June to the end of September and
contains an exhibit about the history of the area." |
|
| As we wandered from the parking lot down to the shore we passed through
a mass of "Tuckamore", which is low growth evergreens only a few feet tall,
all inter-twined together for protection from the elements. And it looks
like "caves" such as this would make fine homes for animals. |
|
| Here we are down on the tidal flats - it was just fool's luck that we
got there are the right tide - looking back at the point with the lighthouse
on it. |
|
| Susan was there .... |
|
| And so was Glen, wandering about in the rocks. |
|
| There certainly were plenty of rocks to wander around in .... |
|
| And over, for hours! |
|
| If only we had gone to the GEO in St John's before we came to
Gros Morne and then maybe we would have known what this green-tinged
rock was. |
|
| Susan had a lot of fun with her camera (and a polaroid filter) trying to
shoot the fish. |
|
| But the still life (or at least slow-moving life) was easier. |
