We went out to Bay Bulls one day to go on O'Brien's Tours, a boat ride to Bird Island and through some bays where the whales were commonly seen. This was a particularly good time to see the whales since the capelin were hatching and all the whales in the Atlantic drop by for a snack.
Michael was our guide and racconteur for the trip.
Lighthouse at the entrance to Bay Bulls.
     Shoreline just outside Bay Bulls.
It wasn't all that cold, but it was a little damp and definitely windy.
Here are the birds we saw along the way and at Bird Island.
     Flock Off
     Take Off
     Bird Island 1
     Bird Island 2
     Bird Island 3
     Bird Island 4
     Glen shooting birds
     Lined up on the Rocks
And of course we saw whales too.
We have a Humpback tail and the spout of a friend.
I think this is a Humpback, looks too big for a Minke.
This is a Minke near Bird Island.
     Another Minke.
And one more Minke (they're a little more common than Humpbacks!).
And another Humpback tail to wave good-bye as we head back to port.
